The ten-year-old was interrupted from her failure to explain (or to her horror, remember) what the potty really looked like by an unexpected burp. A bit of drool escaped her lips when it emerged as well, but at least Dillion stopped patting her on the back.

Once the patting stopped, though, the boy did keep hold of his sister for an extra few moments. After a second of realization, however, she pulled away.

“Thanks, I guess,” Karen said in response to that, though with no real sincerity. She soon changed the subject, however, figuring with enough time this would work out for her, “Look, how about we go see if the party’s ready yet? I can wait and go potty when I need to.”
